RB EYE Foundation Increases Donation to
Aggie Guide-Dog and Service-Dog Program

The RB EYE Foundation has increased its support of the Aggie Guide-Dog and Service-Dog Program at Texas A&M University with an additional donation of $165,000 through an endowment established at the Texas A&M Foundation to benefit the program. The additional donation brings the total support by the RB EYE Foundation and its supporters to $215,000 in 2024.

“It is very important to me and the members of our board that all the money raised through the RB EYE Foundation in Aggieland stays within the Aggie family,” said Jim Schlossnagle, chairman of the board of the RB EYE Foundation. “We had a very successful fundraiser back in the spring and we are pleased that all the money raised in that effort, as well as additional funds raised during the 2024 Texas A&M baseball season, have been donated directly to the Guide-Dog and Service-Dog program.”

The funding will be used to support an enhanced training center for the dogs as well as professional trainers who work alongside the A&M students involved in the organization, according to Dr. Alice Blue-McLendon, Director of the Winnie Carter Wildlife Center and clinical associate professor in the Department of Veterinary Physiology and Pharmacology at Texas A&M University and faculty leader of the student-run Aggie Guide-Dog and Service-Dog organization.

Their mission is to educate about, fundraise for, promote the training of service dogs, and to increase the awareness about how the animals help individuals with disabilities. “This support is helping to make our mission and dreams come true. The world is a better place because of the kindness and generosity of the RB EYE Foundation.”

In 2024, the RB EYE Foundation received substantial financial support from many individuals, companies and families within the Aggie family and Aggieland Credit Union served as the primary corporate partner, providing monetary and non-monetary support throughout the year.
